When people ask me what sort of photos I take, I reply that I photograph interiors and gardens for all those magazines on the newsagents shelves - over 500 to date. I’m fortunate that my work is widely published – it adds to the satisfaction of being a photographer.
My photographic career started with theatre stills, then TV dramas, and work for The Radio Times. Meanwhile I was shooting country subjects – rare breeds, rural sporting events and farming. This was when I started my collection of ‘Animals’ Bottoms’ – I blame the person who advised me to ‘always walk round your subject’!
Conversion of our mill building, where I live and work, led me to photography of homes and gardens, which I love. I meet a lot of very interesting people, and have the chance to see the broad range of places where they live. Each feature includes a portrait. I like people.
I count myself as very lucky to have such a varied and tricky, but rarely boring, career.
